Clumsiness and a mother’s love

I am typing this post one handed as yesterday afternoon I fell and broke my arm.  I have always been a bit clumsy but have managed to avoid any serious injury until now.  I was headed out the door with Lucas and must have tripped on the walkway – in my attempt to stop the fall I threw my left shoulder into the garage doorway and then crumpled to the ground with Lucas still in my right arm.  It took a second to realize what had happened.  Lucas cried for a second and then happily started to play with my purse which was on the ground with us.  I knew something was serious when i couldn’t move my left arm so I found my cell phone and called my mother in law (who lives close and was thankfully home at the time).  She came over and drove us to the hospital where Scott met us.  Now i must admit that I was and still am in a lot of pain but it is amazing how being a mom changes your entire perspective.  The entire time i was in the ER i kept on crying thinking about what could have happened to Lucas and if i would still be able to breastfeed him with the pain meds and the restricted movement of my arm.

Thankfully Lucas is doing great and has been wonderful during this entire event and although it is not extremely comfortable I can still nurse Lucas which has helped me heal emotionally.

Thank you for your continued pray support as we get through this weekend and go see the orthopedic doctor on Monday.
