Ness And Co

Updates

My apologies for the lack of posts in recent weeks. A lot of things have been going on which have kept me otherwise occupied.

1) Lucas is not sleeping well. (Which means mommy and daddy are not sleeping). Teething and reflux pain are mainly to blame but now that we have those two items identified and are treating them, we are going to start working on L soothing himself back to sleep instead of us rocking or nursing him back to sleep.

2) Kait, my mom and dad, and Em all came to visit us in the span of three weeks. It was awesome and L got to spend some quality time with his family from the north. The week following their departures was tough emotionally on me as I really miss my family and wish that we lived closer.

3) Scott and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. It is amazing to look back and remember how Scott and I first met, when we first started dating 7 years ago, when we graduated college, when we got married, when we moved to Houston, when we found out we were pregnant and when we became parents for the first time. We had a wonderful anniversary (including a special dinner at Perry’s Steakhouse).

4) Scott is involved in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and I am so very proud of him. He is amazing and has been challenging and encouraging others around him to be involved in this as well. It is such a great idea and after a month of writing he will have accomplished a novel of his own. Scott is encouraging me to join him next year and assuming I can find the time I hope to.

5) Montana, our 3 year old cat, has not been doing well. We had to take her to the vet because she was not able to keep any food down. The vet found no blockage and gave us medicine which helped her keep the food down. Unfortunately while we were there, the vet heard a heart murmur (which in cats is not good and is usually a sign of heart disease). The vet recommended an ultrasound of her heart by their radiologist to see if this is a real murmur or a stress murmur. This ultrasound alone would cost $300 and is only diagnostic and doesn’t actually treat the problem. If it is a real murmur, then Montana potentially has a heart disease that would end her life. We had to make a tough decision. We had already paid out $280 for the xray and medicine for her stomach problems, do we spend another $300 on a diagnostic test to tell us if she has a stress murmur or a real murmur (which would potentially end her life sooner rather then later). In the end, we decided to forgo the heart ultrasound as we simply can not afford to have it done. Montana has returned to crazy self and we are going to continue to pray that the murmur was stress related.

Lucas is waking up from his nap now so I should get going but I will follow up this post with some cute new pictures.
